Sara Sandwith
What podcast or book inspires you?
I love the podcast "99% Invisible" because it opens my eyes to the hidden elements of design that shape the world around us. What is a Comox Valley trail that you would recommend? For a beautiful and satisfying East to West vista, you can't beat a long run up Nikkei Mountain in Cumberland. The sweat makes the scenery all the more glorious! Describe a project that you were passionate about. I was so proud and grateful to pilot group prenatal care with a small team of family physicians and midwives in 2017. I can't wait until we can integrate this model of care more broadly for our patients - the connections and support were monumental, and we had so much fun! What is one thing that you are grateful for when you provide maternity care? I'm grateful for the opportunity to be present with a family at the single most transformative moment in a new baby's life. As a family physician, I am so honoured that I am welcomed and have something to offer at both the beginning and the end of life - our two most significant universal life events! Describe a snapshot of an ordinary moment at work that brings you joy. When I get to visit with a family whose baby I delivered three, four, five years ago, and see how they're growing and developing such skills and abilities - both as individuals and as a family. What turn of phrase do you use to encourage women while they are pushing? You're in the home stretch of your marathon - we can see the finish line! |
"When I received my daughter's diagnosis it was a very difficult time and overwhelming. I can not stress enough how positive and supportive that Sara Sandwith was during the whole pregnancy."
